Our mission still remains our top priority: to empower every student to understand and be understood. That means listening carefully to the needs of our DSA Sector and making thoughtful updates that truly make a difference.
We’re excited to share our latest round of product updates, designed to reduce barriers, support neurodivergent learners, and help students thrive at every stage of their studies.
Here’s what’s new this month across Scholarcy, Writing Helper, Read&Write, Global Tasks, and Genio (formerly Glean) integration.
Scholarcy now speaks: built-in Text-to-Speech
Scholarcy just got even more inclusive - you can now listen to your summaries with all the voices you know and love from Read&Write! Human-sounding AI voices help students study more effectively, as you can now enjoy text-to-speech (TTS) on any of your Scholarcy content with just a click of a button. Whether you're on the go, or just prefer listening over reading, this update brings greater flexibility and accessibility to academic reading.
What this means for students:
- Multisensory learning: listen while you revise
- Better access for students with reading difficulties
- Reduced cognitive load with easier content engagement
- Improved focus with text highlighting
Scholarcy continues to support students who are balancing complex reading tasks - helping them make sense of heavy content in a lighter way.
Writing Helper: focus-first writing support
When it comes to academic writing, getting started is often the hardest part. Writing Helper provides a structured, low-stress way to break assignments into manageable chunks and when paired with Scholarcy’s clean reading view, it becomes an even more powerful tool for reducing cognitive load.
What’s new?
Thanks to Scholarcy now being part of the Everway product family, Writing Helper has been upgraded with powerful new reading features. You can now access and read your sources within Writing Helper using Scholarcy’s clean reading view - bringing clarity, structure, and improved accessibility.
This integration allows us to combine the very best of our technologies, giving students a fully customisable reading experience that supports focus, comprehension, and confidence in their writing process.
Recent updates to Writing Helper have made the experience even smoother:
Structured reading aids focus for students with dyslexia, ADHD, and autism.
Customisable display supports visual stress and sensory needs.
All-in-one tool reduces mental load for those with ADHD and executive function challenges.
It's calm, guided writing - helping students feel confident from first word, to final edit.
Global Tasks now integrates with Microsoft 365
We’re continuing to build on the success of Global Tasks and this latest update takes it a step further. Students can now sync Global Tasks with Microsoft 365, including Outlook calendars, Teams meetings, and OneDrive.
This means everything - from lectures to life admin - stays in one place.
What’s new:
- Sync with Outlook and Teams
- Drag-and-drop task management
- Automatic updates from university timetables
- A unified view of academic and personal time
By reducing the need to jump between platforms, this update supports students with ADHD, autism, and executive function challenges by syncing calendars, Teams, and tasks in one place.
It reduces overwhelm, supports routine, and improves time management, all key for DSA-funded learners.
Read&Write now has new and improved support for Blackboard and Genio (formerly Glean)
We’re excited to announce that Read&Write now integrates seamlessly with Blackboard and Genio, one of the most commonly used learning management systems in the UK universities.
With this update, Read&Write, allowing users to benefit from features such as Text-to-Speech and Highlighting in both platforms. For students with additional learning needs such as dyslexia, visual stress, working memory difficulties, or processing challenges, navigating digital learning platforms can be overwhelming. Our new update allows Blackboard and Genio users to benefit from seamless, integrated support, ensuring that students can access Read&Write’s tools no matter where they’re learning.
Students can now use Read&Write tools seamlessly within Blackboard and Genio, gaining access to:
- Text-to-Speech: Students can listen to content directly within both platforms without needing to leave and navigate multiple platforms.
- Highlighting tools: Students can engage with materials just like in other supported environments
- Support at the point of need: The new updates make sure the support is embedded right where students need it - where they write, reflect, and engage with course content.

Designed with neurodiversity in mind
All of these updates are grounded in a shared purpose: to make learning more inclusive, accessible, and empowering. Whether it’s reading, writing, time management, or navigating academic systems, we’re here to support student’s needs in every way.
