Communication support, built for real workplace conversations

As writing tools become more common at work, many rely on users being confident writers who can explain exactly what they want, in the right way, every time.

We know this isn’t always the case.

That’s why we’re bringing Refine into Read&Write for Work - a communication coach that helps people express what they mean, how they mean it, with guidance on tone and intent built into the writing flow.

When writing tools don’t account for tone, intent, or uncertainty, they can create stress instead of support. Messages feel risky to send. Meaning gets lost. Everyday communication takes more emotional and cognitive effort than it should.

This update will change that.

Refine helps people draft and refine workplace messages clearly, confidently, and as they intend - without starting from a blank page or having to figure out what to ask for.

Unlike generic writing tools that rely on users knowing exactly how to phrase instructions, Refine works with how people naturally communicate, adapting to their communication style and comfortability.

Users can:

  • Draft messages using a guided message builder. Share thoughts and intent, no prompt writing or fine-tuning required
  • Get real-time tone feedback, highlighting how a message may come across
  • Generate clear, workplace-ready rewrites that keep the user’s intent intact
  • Use templates for common situations, such as: Asking for help, setting boundaries, giving feedback, clarifying expectations, and navigating sensitive conversations

What does this mean?

Refine adapts to different communication styles, offering guidance and clarity where it’s needed. It goes beyond rewriting text, helping people understand how their message might land - and adjust it before hitting send.

For example:

  • Autistic employees who may find it difficult to judge tone can feel confident their messages say what they mean, in the way they intend
  • People working across cultures or languages can avoid unintended harshness or ambiguity
  • Employees navigating everyday challenges like giving feedback, setting boundaries, or handling sensitive conversations can communicate with greater confidence

The result is clearer communication, fewer misunderstandings, and less emotional effort spent on everyday messages.

What early reviewers have told us

Refine was designed through a neuroinclusive lens, by Everway’s dyslexic Founder and neurodiverse product development team. It has been piloted by our Early Access Feedback Group, and shaped according to early feedback.

Here’s what some of this group has shared:

“I'm of Czech nationality, so my tone can be quite harsh sometimes, unintentionally. This tool helps me on a daily basis, ensuring every message is clear, professional, and enhances team collaboration.”

Here, Christy Reece, a Talent Acquisition Partner, also shares how Refine can support the wider workforce. For her role, it helps her to offer candidate feedback, and ensure her messages represent the company brand in the right way.
