We’ve introduced new text-to-speech features in OrbitNote that make it easier for students to read, review, and understand PDF content - with more control and a smoother reading experience.
This update is available from February 3, 2026 (version 1.10.0) and includes both new reading modes and accessibility improvements designed to support everyday classroom use.
What’s new
Click to Speak
Users can now click directly on any sentence in a PDF to hear it read aloud. This makes it easier to focus on specific parts of a text without starting from the beginning or listening to more than they need.
Click to Speak uses intelligent sentence detection and works alongside highlighted annotations, supporting flexible, student-led reading.
Continuous Reading
A new Continuous Reading toggle allows text-to-speech to automatically move from one sentence to the next. Once enabled, speech flows naturally through the document, creating a more seamless listening experience.
This works with both standard play and the new Click to Speak feature, giving students choice over how they engage with text.

Designed for consistency and accessibility
This release also includes updates that improve consistency across Everway’s literacy tools and strengthen accessibility:
- Standardized highlight colors (blue, pink, and green) now align with Read&Write, creating a more familiar experience for users who use both tools.
- Accessibility improvements to the bottom toolbar ensure clearer hover states and better visibility, supporting easier navigation for all users.
Together, these updates mean that OrbitNote feels more predictable, accessible, and aligned within the wider Read&Write product suite.
Supporting confident reading in the classroom
For educators, these enhancements offer more flexibility in how students access and interact with PDFs, whether they’re working independently, revisiting instructions, or focusing on challenging sections of text.
For students, the combination of Click to Speak and Continuous Reading supports:
- Greater control over how and what they listen to
- Improved focus and comprehension
- A smoother, less interrupted reading experience
By refining text-to-speech and accessibility, OrbitNote continues to support inclusive reading practices that work for different learners and multiple learning contexts.
