We’re introducing a set of updates to Writing Helper designed to create smoother transitions between reading, planning, and writing.
These improvements strengthen integrations with Scholarcy and MindView, helping students move ideas and research more easily between tools while supporting different ways of thinking and organising information.
Bringing research from Scholarcy into Writing Helper
Students can now import their Scholarcy summaries and full text, along with any notes directly into Writing Helper. Coming soon: Students will be able to do the same with any highlights they create, adding extra context from the research stage to the planning and writing process.
Highlights and notes created during reading and research are added into Writing Helper as unsorted highlights, helping students carry useful information forward without needing to copy and paste between tools manually.
This helps reduce friction between reading and writing tasks, especially for students managing large amounts of information during assignments or revision. It also creates a more connected workflow for students who use Scholarcy to screen articles, capture ideas, and organise research before writing.
Supporting non-linear planning with MindView
We’ve also improved how MindView content is imported into Writing Helper.
Previously, students could lose text notes attached to branches when moving visual plans into Writing Helper. With this update, branch notes are now imported as custom snippets alongside the structure itself.
This supports students who think and plan visually, helping them keep important ideas connected throughout the writing process. Students can build visual maps in MindView, organise thoughts non-linearly, and bring both structure and supporting notes into Writing Helper together - creating a more streamlined workflow for students who think non-linearly.
New ways to organise sources
Students can now switch between tile view and list view when managing sources in Writing Helper.
For users working with larger literature collections, list view provides a more compact and structured way to browse and organise sources. This creates greater flexibility depending on how students prefer to review and manage their research materials.
Supporting more connected writing workflows
Together, these updates are designed to reduce unnecessary steps between research, planning, and writing.
By connecting Scholarcy, MindView, and Writing Helper more closely, students can keep ideas, highlights, notes, and structure together throughout the assignment process. This is especially valuable for students with Dyslexia, ADHD, and other non-linear ways of thinking, helping reduce cognitive load and support more confident writing workflows.
