We’re opening up summer access for the Unique Learning System, giving you a simple way to keep students engaged during the Extended School Year.
From May 8 to August 28, 2026, you can opt into the “By the Sea” Summer Unit 30. It brings together Geography, Life Science, and Community Living standards through structured, age-appropriate activities for learners from Preschool through Transition.
What’s included
Students explore ocean environments through leveled readers such as Splash Into the Ocean and Blanca Explores the Beach. They learn to spot natural and human-made features, while building understanding through clear, supported content.
Summer Unit 30 also includes hands-on activities, from making ocean-themed desserts to taking part in group “Water Day” events. These experiences help students build independence and take part in shared activities in a safe, supported way.

Designed to support consistent learning
Consistency matters, especially for students who benefit from structured, ongoing support. Summer access helps you continue using research-based instruction during Extended School Year and beyond.
By offering this as a free, opt-in feature, more students can access meaningful learning experiences during the Extended School Year. This helps reduce gaps, support social development, and keep learning on track in a way that feels engaging and relevant.
