The Agenda
The problem isn't screen time, it's design
The answer is not abandoning technology, but using it more intentionally. Dr. Tucker challenges educators to rethink the role technology plays in learning. Rather than using technology as a pacifier that keeps students occupied, we must use it as an amplifier that expands what is possible. Educators need support in using technology strategically to increase communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking, while creating more time for meaningful interactions with individual learners and small groups.

Purposeful technology for powerful outcomes
As educators navigate growing questions around AI, screen time, digital distraction and learner engagement, this closing keynote will bring the day's conversations together around one central idea: technology has the greatest impact when it is used with purpose. Drawing on themes of literacy, learning design, accessibility, neuroinclusion and future readiness, the session will explore how schools can move beyond reactive technology adoption and make intentional choices that help more learners access, engage and achieve.

IEPs that drive learning: Start with the learner, not the form
An Individualized Education Program (IEP) is only as good as the thinking behind it. Too often, the process starts with a form, a goal bank, or a placement decision that has already been made, and the learner comes last.
In this session, Tim Villegas follows one student's journey from planning through the classroom to demonstrate what changes when teams truly start with the learner. Through this real-world story, he'll explore presuming competence, treating general education as the starting point, and ensuring learners have a meaningful voice in planning their own lives.
Tim will also share two practical questions to ask of any technology or tool to determine whether it's helping your team hear the learner, strengthen collaboration, and create IEPs that use purposeful tech to drive meaningful learning, rather than simply support compliance.
