We’ve introduced a series of enhancements to Breaking News in News2you, giving educators more of the features they told us they need for everyday classroom use.
This back-to-school release includes improvements to symbols, printing, audio controls, and viewing options, helping teachers use Breaking News more flexibly while supporting students with different communication and learning needs.
What's changed
This release brings together several updates designed to improve the classroom experience, including:
- Three symbol density options: none, light, and moderate
- A new Tier 1 vocabulary approach that focuses on meaningful, high-frequency words
- Printing support
- Full-screen mode for distraction-free reading
- More flexible audio controls
- Additional symbol support throughout Breaking News
Together, these enhancements give teachers greater flexibility in how they present content and support different learners throughout the school day.
Built around teacher feedback
Every classroom works differently, and educators told us there were features they relied on that were missing from the initial release.
We listened to customer feedback, reviewed support requests, and worked closely with educators to understand how Breaking News is used in practice. These enhancements reflect the improvements teachers asked for most, helping the experience fit more naturally into everyday teaching.
Supporting communication and comprehension
Teachers can now choose from three levels of symbol support, while a new Tier 1 vocabulary approach focuses symbols on the words that carry the most meaning. This helps students build communication skills without overwhelming pages with unnecessary symbols.
Alongside improved audio and viewing options, these updates make Breaking News more flexible for a wider range of learners and classroom activities.
