From June 22, 2026, the Polaris beta writing experience will become the standard experience for all users.
This update brings together a range of improvements designed to help educators build high-quality IEPs more efficiently. From AI-assisted drafting to streamlined collaboration and parent engagement tools, the new experience helps reduce administrative effort while supporting stronger outcomes for students.
What's included in the new experience
The updated writing experience introduces several enhancements that help educators move through the IEP process more efficiently.
These include AI-assisted goal writing based on identified student needs, AI-assisted present level writing using profile results, and improved assessment recommendations that help provide a stronger starting point for planning and documentation.
Together, these features help reduce repetitive work while giving educators more time to focus on reviewing, refining, and personalising student plans.

Improved collaboration and parent engagement
The new experience also makes it easier to involve the people who contribute to the IEP process.
Collaboration has been simplified with straightforward sharing permissions that allow users to grant either editing or viewing access. This reduces complexity and makes it easier for educators and service providers to work together on plans.
We've also improved how Parent Input Surveys are submitted. Families can now complete surveys with less friction, including support for Spanish translation and AI-assisted summarisation to help educators review responses more efficiently.
Bringing IEP information into everyday workflows
Another key addition is Polaris IEP Copilot, a browser extension that makes IEP information more accessible across the web.
IEP Copilot allows users to access relevant Polaris data while working online and can help transfer information into a district's system of record, including platforms such as Embrace, Spedtrack, Frontline, and SameGoal. This helps reduce duplicate data entry and supports more connected workflows.

Designed to reduce friction across the IEP process
The beta experience was developed to address common challenges identified through user research and customer feedback.
Rather than focusing on a single step in the workflow, these improvements work together to reduce friction across planning, drafting, collaboration, family engagement, and documentation. The result is a more streamlined experience from start to finish.
Supporting better outcomes for educators and students
When educators spend less time on administration, they have more time to focus on supporting students.
By making the beta experience the standard experience, Polaris brings together powerful tools that help teams work more efficiently, collaborate more effectively, and create stronger IEPs with greater confidence.
This update represents an important step in our ongoing commitment to improving special education workflows and helping educators deliver meaningful support for every learner.
